“And when wind and winter harden
All the loveless land,
It will whisper of the garden,
You will understand.”
Oscar Wilde
RED PANDA is an animated film that is constructed based on various cultural themes that are stemmed from the local (Singaporean) culture and history. The project looks into sentimental thematic points of Singapore’s culture such asian education system that has been criticised to be more engrossed with grades and results. Eddie, a red panda, struggles with whether he should protect a leaf that he had found. The leaf is the last remaining one. Because of the leaf, he makes his first choice.
The film is approached based on both the inspiration of such a context and also driven by the focus in utilising digital tools while preserving traditional aesthetics that bear resemblance to aesthetics of a painting (leaning closer to the Impressionistic era).
